Stewardship & Paint Recycling at Gray’s Paints Store on the San Francisco Peninsula
The owners and employees at Gray’s Paints Stores recognize that sustainability stewardship needs to be a core aspect of our brand and is a key component of the long-term success of our business. We recognize sustainability as our responsibility to the environment, society, our customers and to the communities that we support. We are committed to working with our suppliers and paint manufactures to provide our customers with a full complement of premium quality “low VOC” or “Zero VOC” product platforms, to provide our customers, choices, in how the products that they purchase impact the environment. Currently, over 80% of our core product offerings are “low VOC” and 35% of our core product lines are on a “Zero VOC” platform.
Reduction of pollutant waste is at the forefront of our waste reduction efforts. Our employees are trained to estimate very carefully the paint needs of our customers, and to err on the conservative side to minimize leftover paint needing of eventual disposal. Additionally, and uniquely, at two of our locations, Gray’s Paints offers over 3000 of our colors in 2oz sample jars, just enough paint to effectively apply two coats of paint onto a 24” X 24” sample.
Lastly, two of our four stores (Burlingame and Belmont locations), are registered PaintCare recycle paint drop off locations. We process paint of all brands (not just the brands that we sell). To bring paint for recycling: prepare your unwanted paint, stains, and other acceptable program products by making sure the lids are secured tightly, no containers are leaking, and they have original labels and in their original containers. Please do not mix paints together. Please do not bring empty paint cans; they can be disposed of in your regular trash or possibly in your recycling bins, depending on the services offered in your area. Pack our paint cans in a sturdy cardboard box and place in your vehicle and take them to either or Burlingame location or our Belmont location, during normal business hours. Our two locations will take up to (10) containers per visit. It’s strongly recommended to call our store before bringing your paint to ask if we have enough space to accept the amount of paint you would like to recycle.
The “Gray Family, and extended Gray family, live in the communities that we are honored to serve, we strive constantly to reduce our individual impact, as well as, our businesses impact on our communities and our environment, and we challenge ourselves continuously to develop new ways to reduce our impact onto our environment.
Sincerely,
Jeffrey Gray, President
